Narrative
George Raymond Cutcliffe Died 3rd March 2000. Born in Ilfracombe, Devon on 12th December 1920. He completed his schooling in Bideford, Devon. George served in the Army during World War 2, including a time in India and Burma. He joined the Southampton Police Force in July 1946. He retired after 30 years in the Hampshire Constabulary, working his way up through the ranks to chief inspector. For a time he was Crime Prevention Officer, and was involved in TV and radio programmes relating to crime prevention. George joined Thorn EMI as a Security and Auditor Officer and retired in 1985. These past years have been dominated by his full-time carer role for Win, tirelessly and uncomplainingly looking after her needs. George and Win celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary only a few weeks ago. George loved the countryside and being out and about, and sometimes went deep-sea fishing with his son, Peter. George always had time for people, and especially friends and family.
